How to make easy tortilla chips

How many of you love tortilla chips and salsa? Well, I love them to but not the calories. Today, on my blog I’m sharing with you this easy and delicious recipe for homemade tortilla chips that are half the calories and still taste good!

So, I have a really big family and when I make tacos, I tend to buy too much of everything. When I think my kids are going to eat a lot they barely touch there food. So, I’m left with a lot of tortilla shells. For a long time they would sit in my fridge and get rock hard or thrown away. Until one day… my mom and I dabbled around with a homemade tortilla shell recipe. We experimented with a lot of different seasonings until we found one that we liked. Here below is the recipe. You can add or use any kind of spices that you like. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 pkg of tortilla shells ( flour cook better)

1 bottle of lime juice or fresh limes (3)

Olive oil

Sea salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cut up your shells into triangles. You can make them big or small. I tend to do both. The bigger ones cook better but take up a lot of room on your cookie sheet. In a shallow bowl squirt in 1 to 2 tablespoons of lime juice. Next, pour in a tablespoon of olive oil. Whisk the two liquids together. Dunk each shell in the bowl making sure to get both sides with the mixture. Place the shells close to each other on a cookie sheet. After all your shells are on your sheet sprinkle the desired amount of sea salt. I don’t like a lot of salt, so I don’t use a lot. Completely up to you. Place in oven and cook 5-7 minutes. Chips will start to bubble up when done. They may not look done after 7 minutes but they crisp up after sitting on a drying rack or paper bag. Cool and enjoy with your favorite dip or salsa!
